Assume Responsibility - Then You Are In Control

Hello my friend:

Most people don’t even realize that they are having a constant conversation with themselves.

You do it all day long, too.

We all do.

It’s not just mental pictures and movies we see in our mind’s eye–or with our actual eyes. There’s an inner dialog going on constantly about our thoughts, opinions and ideas about those images we see. We constantly talk to ourselves about the physical and emotional feelings we get, too.

Whether you are aware of it or not, you are doing this all-day-long.

For example, if you are someone who is always cracking jokes or who is told often that you have a “good sense of humor,” it’s not just on the outside that you’re funny. You are having humorous conversations in your head all the time. You “see” the humorous side of life.

But if you are depressed or angry or afraid of a lot of things, if you are nervous and stressed out, it’s all in how you communicate with yourself… your non-stop stream of mental movies and inner dialog is the biggest reason for your negative/disempowering emotions.

I hear from new clients all the time, “I can’t help the way I feel. It’s not my fault… if my boss would just…”

“If my wife, kids, parents would only do X, then I’d feel better.”

“If someone would just listen to me, I’d be more successful at X.”

“I can never get a break.”

“I’m surrounded by idiots. It’s no wonder I can’t get anything done.”

“Everyone is always sabotaging my efforts.”

Totally controlled by others.

See, by and large, once you are past the age of 15 and in some cases, 18-20, all your achievements and failures are 100% your fault. Because no one can control what you say to yourself but you.

Bill Gates was a billionaire by the time he was 31. He dropped out of college even though his parents didn’t want him to.

Tiger Woods’ dad made him practice, but that didn’t ensure he’d be anything but pretty good. Lots of parents push their kids. But most people push back, experiencing only anxiety from it.

To the exact same situations, one person reacts with depression (”It’s over now, I’ll never make it.”), another person reacts with anger (”It’s their fault!”), and yet another person responds with hope and optimism (”Well, you can’t win ‘em all. I’ll do better next time.”).

It’s not what happens to you, dude or dudette, it’s how you see what happens to you and around you, and how you handle it.

So if things are not going your way in one or more areas of life, to point fingers anywhere but to yourself is to be guaranteed to keep getting more of the same.

That’s a lock.

The way you see life now is the same way you’ve looked at it for years. Because that self talk that’s been in your head for years has been shaping your view of your world all that time. So if you want some circumstances or some emotional patterns to change, the only way it will happen is to examine your beliefs and attitudes surrounding the underlying issues, and you must change your self-talk. Otherwise…

Look at the 22 mental patterns shown on the home page at - http://www.thinkrightnow.com and filter your beliefs and attitudes in any of the “problem” areas of your life through those patterns and I guarantee you’ll have a major “Aha!” moment… and you’ll be open to doing what you need to do to get different results.

If you don’t have that “Aha!”? Well…then you’re pretty hopeless and you’re going to be experiencing a lot more pain, anger, frustration and depression.

Where you are failing, take responsibility. Change your inner affirmations (your beliefs) Then and only then can you take control.

Then you can start to develop superpowers even where there is none now.

Love,

Mike

Floatation Therapy: All Stresses Simply Seep Away

Filed Under (Good Health, Meditation, Personal Growth, Relaxation, Stress Management, Wellness) by Kevin on 29-12-2007

Floatation therapy is a quick and simple way to achieve intense relaxation. Stress is constantly being recognized as the cause of illness and physical problems and floatation therapy is an ideal way to unwind and release pent up tension.

A physician and neuro-psychiatrist named Dr. John C. Lilly originally gave birth to the idea of the floatation tank. His studies veered him in the direction of sensory deprivation and the impact it had on reducing brain activity. While Doctor Lilly was undergoing psychoanalysis training, he continued to find out as much as he could about isolating people from any external stimuli. His first tank was created early in the 1950’s.

Floatation therapy provides people with an almost instant feeling of well-being: As the brain activity lowers, any problems or stresses seem trivial and simple to overcome. Whether a person has been experiencing physical pain or aches or they have a stress related problem like insomnia, Dr. Lilly’s invention will prove to be invaluable. When the body and mind enters into such a relaxed state, more areas of the brain can work harmoniously together to provide healing and clarity of thought.

Most forms of such deep relaxation take a lot of time and practicing before any deeper levels can be reached. With floatation therapy, no learning or practicing is required and no energy is necessary. It is as simple as climbing into the tank and floating for a while. Even if it’s the end of a hectic, tiring week, mustering the energy to climb on in will be well worth it.

How do Floatation Tanks Work?

Of course the initial development of the floatation tank was nowhere near as comfortable as the modern day designs. They now have light, easy to open and close lids or doors, circulation fans, internal lighting and a very classy and new age look.

They have been created as a peaceful, comforting tank or room that contains approximately ten inches of water and a heap of Epsom salt. When water contains pounds of salt, it becomes much denser than the body and provides the floater with a feeling of weightlessness, making it easy to float.

Should the tanks only contain fresh water or water with chlorine in it, a person would have to constantly keep moving to keep floating. It wouldn’t be a very relaxing experience if worrying about sinking was the main agenda.

Using professional floatation therapy methods allows the body to become completely relaxed while floating on the surface without effort.

The water is always set to body temperature which means it quickly feels like the body and the water become one. It is a private, dark, temperate and moist environment that most people find to be very pleasant. For those concerned about feeling claustrophobic, the lid can be left ajar or completely open, but floatation therapy is more effective if it’s closed and completely dark.

Some people choose to wear bathers and others like to be naked for their floatation therapy. There is a shower to use before climbing in and whichever way makes an individual feel more comfortable will be best for them.

Another good idea is to wear ear plugs because usually the ears are in the water the entire time.

Lying on the back is not the only option and many people like to try different positions whilst floating. It feels almost like laying on a bed and there is freedom to move and float in different ways.

An hour of floatation therapy is equal to four hours of deep sleep. Usually there will be a light to indicate that an hour has passed, or the tank water may vibrate as the filters start to self-clean. It isn’t recommended to spend more than an hour inside and this is seen as the ideal length of time.

The Epsom salt makes skin soft, smooth and silky to touch. The prune look normally seen after bathing is caused by water leeching salt from the skin and because the tank water is so salty already, this doesn’t happen. Many people go straight from a floatation session onto their next appointments.

Important Features of Floatation Tanks

Today’s floatation tanks have been designed with safety in mind, which is why it is impossible to ever be trapped inside. It is completely okay to climb in and out any time so users feel in control.

Modern tanks aren’t air tight and also have their own fans circulating the air and keeping it fresh. In the rare event that something did go wrong with the fan, there would never be a shortage of air.

Advanced filtration mechanisms keep the tank and water clean. This means there are no concerns about picking up an infection or catching a disease.

Currently floatation tanks and floatrooms cost anywhere from $7400 to $24000. This is the price of the units only and doesn’t include any delivery charges or extra accessories.

Not many people can afford to install there own tank at home. It’s much more affordable to visit a local salon that offers floatation therapy and many will provide package deals offering discounts for more than one visit.

The First Floatation Therapy

There are some important points to consider before the first float, whether planning to use a tank in the home or visit a salon that offers the service:

* Because of the high salt concentration of the water, metal items can be damaged during a float. For this reason even wedding rings should be removed.

* To avoid damaging contact lenses if water goes into the eye, they are also best being removed.

* It’s an excellent idea to spray some liquid skin or liquid bandage onto any cuts or abrasions. This is because the salt water will sting rather intensely for some minutes if there is any broken skin, so even shaving nicks should be considered.

* It is a courtesy to take a shower and wash your hair. Conditioner shouldn’t be applied and the entire body should be washed and rinsed before floating. This prevents unnecessary pollution of the water in the tank.

* For those who have a specific issue on their mind, it’s suggested that focusing on it while preparing for a session is beneficial. As soon as the body hits the water, asking for universal guidance towards finding a resolution is usually very effective.

Precautions to remember when in the tank are:

* It is pitch black when the lid of the tank is closed and it’s not uncommon for someone to initially panic when the doors appear to be stuck. This is impossible and it’s simply a matter of them being disoriented because it’s so dark. If this happens, simply feeling around for the lids location will solve the problem and keeping any panic at bay.

* On initially entering the tank, it is best to take a minute to orient the mind to where the lid is in respect to floating.

* Another thing to find when first entering the tank is the light switch. Nearly all tanks have interior lights and knowing how to find it can also help prevent a panic attack.

Anyone attempting floatation therapy for the first time needs to remind themselves that they are safe and calm. The doors are designed so they can not be locked or stuck and there is always plenty of air. Any problems will only be related to locating the doors and that is not so hard to do as long as calmness is maintained. It is sometimes a good idea to find the light switch first and then find the door. If panic does start to set in the best solution is to lie back in the water, breathe, relax and then look again for the lid.

* If salt water does make its way into the eyes it can sting very badly. This is because the salt concentration is so high, so it’s important to remember these points:

> As soon as the hands become wet they must be kept off the face and eyes.

> Any time the hands are raised over the head for a change of position, they should go outside the head, not over the face. This avoids water dripping into the eyes.

> The hair needs to be carefully pushed away from the face anytime the floating position is changed and especially when sitting up.

> In case water does get in the eyes, there should always be a towel near the door of the tank for immediate use.

It only takes a single floatation therapy session to fall in love with the feeling. It provides a natural pathway to health and wellbeing and is a wonderful feeling everyone should experience.

Positive Answers To The “Why Can’t I Succeed?” Question

Filed Under (Goals, Motivation, Personal Growth, Self Esteem, Spiritual Growth) by Kevin on 27-12-2007

By guest blogger Mike Brescia, Think Right Now International

Hello my friend

Some of the most common questions we get on a daily basis are phrased something like these…

- I just can’t control my urges… Am I stupid?
- Why do I get nervous to the point I have to throw up?
- Even though I won’t make any money unless I pick up the phone, why can’t I get myself to do it.
- I have all this stuff to do on my list, why won’t I do it… or, what should I do first?
- I’ve read dozens of books on positive thinking, motivation, confidence, and others that deal specifically with the area I want to succeed in… why can’t I follow the advice?
- I’ve been in therapy, counseling, talked with friends, etc., but I’m still lost. Why?
- I’m about to lose my marriage. Why can’t I change enough to save it?

There are a number of variations to these questions…

The major theme is a frustration with knowing what you want to do and how you want to be, but not being able to get yourself to do it… or not being able to feel comfortable enough to get through certain types of situations.

The thing is, you can’t keep advice from a book, therapy session or seminar in your working mind for long before your mind gets flooded with the concerns and decisions of the moment… and you go on auto-pilot… you act as you always have without having to think.

You “forget” to do what you were told to do.

To make habit changes and to change the way you feel, you would have to read the same book constantly (provided it is helpful advice), meaning every day. And even then, you’d be reading a lot of filler text that would waste hours and days and weeks and months.

Yes, therapy, counseling, friends and family can be incredibly useful… life saving.

But 1-3 hours a week where the bulk of it is spent complaining about what someone did or said to you… or in whining about what you did to someone else and beating yourself up with guilt, only to have a few minutes of constructive advice is not very helpful. It is definitely not FAST change.

Life IS fast.

Major split-second decisions need to be made. Many interruptions and temptations come at you every hour. Things need to get done quickly and correctly. Time stops for no one.

So taking weeks and months and years to get to the root of your limitations doesn’t make sense. It doesn’t fit in with the pace of life.

That is why most people give up on “self-help” efforts too soon… impatience.

There are only 11 main reasons for all failures.

There are many more reasons, actually, but all the other ones happen because of these main 11.

The only things that stop you:

The 11 main reasons for all failure

1) Failures, mistakes, setbacks, delays, criticism negatively affect self-image… creates image of failure in specific life area
2) Failures, mistakes, setbacks, delays, criticisms have only or mostly negative meanings
3) Feeling no responsibility for negative outcomes/setbacks
4) Self-doubt - Feeling/believing “I can’t” - lack of faith
5) Love for/Attraction to people, places, things, actions that get in the way of positive goals/outcomes
6) Dislike/repulsion to tasks, people & places that support help you achieve positive goals/outcomes
7) Worry: Focusing on what’s not perfect/What “could” go wrong
8) Blowing up the size/difficulty of goal oriented tasks/decisions
9) Blowing up mistakes, setbacks & delays, criticisms (real or imagined)
10) Disaster thinking - Imagining the worst outcomes/effects
11) Stress reactions in the body - destroys the ability of your “vessel” to accomplish your desired outcomes

These patterns are common to us all in areas where we are not good at something and not great at something.

If you have not mastered a set of actions, look to these 11 and you will see why.

Study this list…

As you ponder each one, you will grow to understand the limitations of many kinds of self-help in its ability to shrink the influence of these automatic, conditioned ways of thinking and acting.

You will see that these patterns are automatic.

They are ways of “being” that we learn throughout our lives.

Most of these patterns are NOT built into us from birth, at least not in every area of life.

They are learned.

Even #11 can be unlearned.

Each Accelerated Success Conditioning program addresses all 11 core failure patterns and their implications…

…this means that if, let’s say , you have the habit of continually imagining negative outcomes (worrying) in a specific area of life, the program(s) we have that address that subject gives you new belief, thought and attitude patterns that directly oppose and work to obliterate the images, sounds and feelings of failure. Through the audible statements, each programs but also teaches and conditions you with rich images, sounds and feelings of success.

This two-pronged process of clearing/releasing the old and installing the new is a remarkably effective way of easily creating lightning fast, emotional and behavioral changes so you can get the results you want that last… with little chance of reverting back to old ways.

So whenever you are upset/frustrated with something, and/or can’t get yourself to do what you want to do as well as you want to do it, look to these 11 reasons as the foundation to all the other problematic emotions and behaviors you want to change.

Love,
Mike

Find Motivation To Succeed Through The Virtue Of Pride

Filed Under (Personal Growth, Positive Thinking, Self Esteem, Spiritual Growth) by Kevin on 24-12-2007

Do you have something you are proud of? You are proud because you have achieved something good. This makes pride a good thing. Being proud of something is to have achieved good and to let others know about it. This is an admirable trait. When you have achieved good you should be proud to let others know it and toot your horn occasionally. Showing pride is showing a passion for your self and for life itself. Passion is the essence of life. We live fully by the virtue of pride.

Pride is a personal awareness and the acceptance of your personal power of mind and body. Pride is the propelling force that moves up the rungs of the ladder of life.

Pride is what compels you to continue the fight when you may be tempted to bow down to someone else’s demands. Be mighty, be proud, continue being mighty proud because it is the proud who prime themselves for mastery of all things while the meek inherit slavery. Pride frees you. Having an attitude of being bigger than the obstacles in front of you will keep you from faltering. It is pride that pushes you through the barriers of life. Pride is faith in your abilities to achieve things you haven’t before achieved, even when others tell you it is impossible. Those who have pride do not accept the controlling limitations that others set upon them; they set the rules for those who do not have pride in themselves.

Lions, the king of the beasts, live in prides. Their mighty roars tell the world how proud they are of their position at the top. Natural selection has smiled favor on lions as conquerors. It is the conquerors who shape evolution. These are the catalysts of the divine plans set by the supreme gods and goddesses. From conqueror to god nature rewards those who are bold and proud.

You are a manifestation of the pride of your ancestors. You are their legacy, what they have left the world to remember them by and you should be proud of all they accomplished in life. Your ancestors are called great and grand for a reason.

The natural outcome of honor is pride. We are honored by other people and even ourselves for accomplishments we have made and qualities we have. We can give others pride in themselves and their accomplishments by honoring them. We give ourselves pride by honoring our own accomplishments. Having pride means we have a purpose, a meaning and an overall integrity.

You have earned the right to be proud. You should be proud just to be alive; it is the strong who survive. Take pride in what you are; you are a human being which in itself means you are marvelous creature.

You have earned the right to be proud. It is the strong who survive. Be proud of all of your accomplishments, even life itself is an accomplishment. Be proud of being who you are and of being the marvelous creature known as human. You are a unique being. Be proud of who you are and of who you will become, it is your pride that is going to shape you into the being you become and the success you are in life. Being proud is being great and being great is being proud.

Pride is what gives you the standard of excellence you live up to and pride is how you leave a lasting impression on the world. You can build your reputation by having pride in yourself and all that you do.

Being strong willed, having determination, having an ego and pride all go hand in hand together. These are the factors that make you the man or woman that you are, the person who demands and is in demand. Pride is the flame in the fire of motivation. Pride is the devotion you have to liberated and ethical living. Pride is the strength and dominance that drives those who dare to unapologetically seize and flaunt their potential whether it be for the good of others or themselves.

Having pride means believing in yourself. There is a reason you exist. Pride is what makes you feel good and feel good about your accomplishments. Pride makes you feel good. Having a healthy self-esteem and self respect makes you feel good. You are a valuable, worthy person who deserves to have pride. It is pride that gives you personal power and satisfaction in yourself.

Having pride is always best since having pride means being pleased with yourself and your accomplishments. Having pride in yourself is a good thing since no matter where you are you have to be there with yourself. It is like the old saying, ‘you can run but you can’t hide’. Having pride means you won’t want to run from who you are, you will always be happy with yourself and what you have done in life. Things that make people happy and create pleasurable feelings are the things they do not run from.

Pride is the magnetic force behind the self-assurance that draws in good things. The good things in your life that you can be proud of because they are from your good works are what make you the great-awesome-fantastically-stupendous person you are.
