			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p></p><p>Today I heard about an interesting term called phonological ambiguity.  I know it may sound pretty complicated, but what it means is that the brain cannot distinguish the difference between two words that sound alike but have different meanings.</p>
<p>For example let’s take the word &#8216;nose,&#8217; which represents the thing on your face that you use to smell things and the word &#8216;knows,&#8217; which represents the fact that you understand something or have a certain amount of knowledge on a situation.</p>
<p>Because these two words sound exactly alike, the brain cannot distinguish between the two of them.  In other words, they are ambiguous within your mind and can be understood interchangeably.<br />
Want to know how you can use this knowledge to influence just about anyone to do anything that you want?</p>
<p>Expert hypnotist Steve G. Jones shares the secret here:</p>
<p>Within each of us is a conscious mind and a subconscious mind.  The conscious mind thinks, computes, calculates and can perform various other functions that involves “thinking.”</p>
<p>The subconscious mind on the other hand does not “think,” it simply exists.  It makes rapid-fire decisions without you even realizing it, based on every previous experience you had in life.</p>
<p>In the world of NLP, we use something called embedded commands to leverage the power of this truth.  Embedded commands, or analog marking, are the idea of marking out certain words in a statement that you are making.</p>
<p>Many of these commands can be broken down to three word commands.  So the key is to break down the action that you want the person to take in just three words.  For example, let&#8217;s say you wanted your friend to go to the store to pick you up some food, the only three words that need to be a part of this command are “Go to store.”</p>
<p>But what makes embedded commands so interesting is that you are taking and formatting them in a way that is covert or so the person does not realize that they are receiving a command; but rest assured, they are.</p>
<p>This is what makes embedded commands so powerful.  Essentially, we can insert them into parts of conversations that have nothing to do with the command itself and get the person to do exactly what we want them to do.</p>
<p>All you simply need to do is make a statement to someone and insure that the three words essential to the command are in place, you just need to slightly emphasize them more.</p>
<p>For instance, using the example of wanting someone to go to the store for you, you could use a statement like this (simply put more emphasis on the words in bold): I was trying to find someone&#8217;s house the other day, but wasn&#8217;t sure which way to GO so I asked TWO people and they said drive up to the next STORE and make a left.</p>
<p>What you have done here is created a statement that has absolutely nothing to do with what you want this person to do, yet they will eventually comply, because the command “GO TO STORE” was embedded in the statement.</p>
<p>What makes this technique so great, is that it can be used in text messages and e-mails, just as it can in verbal communication.  When using it on both platforms, simply change the way the commands look in some aspect by either capitalizing or changing the font or making the words bigger.<br />
Remember, it doesn&#8217;t matter that I used the word two (which represents the number) in place of the word “to” because the mind can make a distinction anyway.  That makes the technique even more covert.</p>
<p>The key here is to just make sure that the commands have a slightly higher emphasis put on them than the rest of the words.  Notice that I said “slightly higher.” The idea is not to shout these words in a way that you bring attention to what you&#8217;re doing just simply modify them in some way to make them stand out in the person&#8217;s mind.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p></p><p>Have you ever had a dream that felt so real that when you woke up, you thought the dream was your reality?</p>
<p>The reason this happens is because the mind does not understand the difference between reality and imagination.</p>
<p>In other words, it cannot distinguish the difference between what you visualize in your mind as opposed to what you actually experience in life.</p>
<p>This is extremely powerful knowledge.  And the reason I say this is because all things in life are nothing more than energy in vibration.  And energy attracts energy of the same kind.  Therefore, if you can effectively visualize yourself doing something, you will at some point attract that reality into your life.</p>
<p>The second reason why this fact is so powerful is because every time we do something we become better at it.  Experience enables us to be better prepared every time we come across a challenging encounter or situation.</p>
<p>And since the mind can&#8217;t tell the difference between a “real” situation and one that you&#8217;ve imagined, if you continuously visualize that situation, you will be well-prepared for it when it takes place in reality.</p>
<p>Now imagine how powerful it would be if you could help other people create a crystal-clear vision of themselves in the future doing what you want them to do.  This would be extremely helpful in influencing people and gaining compliance.</p>

<p>When it comes to Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP), two of the most powerful techniques you can use are pacing and mirroring.</p>
<p>I want to tell you about future pacing.  Future pacing, essentially, is when you take the person that you&#8217;re speaking with and mentally bring them into a future event, where they can clearly see themselves doing something.</p>
<p>If you remember from a previous article when I spoke about tapping into people&#8217;s representational systems and determining whether they&#8217;re auditory kinesthetic or visual, you can now use future pacing to help you once you figure out which category a person falls into.  </p>
<p>For example, let&#8217;s assume that you&#8217;re talking with someone who is an auditory thinker and you are trying to sell them a car. One of the most effective ways to get them to purchase that car is to tell them to imagine themselves in that brand-new car driving down the highway listening to the rev of the engine and their favorite music playing in the background.</p>
<p>If you are dealing with a visual person, you would tell them to imagine themselves driving the car seeing the sunset and watching the trees blow in the wind as they got closer to the beach.</p>
<p>And if they were kinesthetic, you could tell them to imagine what it would feel like to be in the car smelling the brand-new leather and feeling the sun gently warm their skin as they cruise down the highway.</p>
<p>You have now done two things; first you have begun to align their thinking with the future reality that you want.  So the attraction process has now begun.  The second thing that you have done is by tapping into their representational system and creating a presentation based on that information. You have created a strong desire that this person will now want to bring to reality.</p>
<p>You have now embedded change into this person&#8217;s future and you have given them the opportunity to experience what you&#8217;re offering in a positive manner before they actually get to that point.<br />
Now, the key is to show what you have to offer can help fill the desire that you have created by helping the person visualize the future.</p>
<p>If you can effectively do that, the person with whom you&#8217;re speaking to will be genuinely interested in what you have to offer, because they see value in it.  And the reason why they see value in it is because you&#8217;ve created a desire within their mind and presented the solution that will help them in the form of whatever it is that you&#8217;re offering.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p></p><p>I wanted to share a cool article with you, written by world renowned hypnotist Steve G. Jones.  It&#8217;s about one of the biggest mistakes that people make when trying to influence others and he tells you what to do about it.</p>

<p>One of the biggest mistakes that people make when trying to influence or persuade others is to deliver their presentation based on what they think is right, what they think is fair and what they think makes sense.</p>
<p>In other words, people assume that the most effective way to gain compliance from others is by sharing their point of view.  The reality is that when you are trying to persuade someone, you must first gain their attention.  This can be quite challenging, because most people really don&#8217;t listen, they just simply remain quiet and wait for their turn to talk.</p>
<p>Every time you make a presentation based on your point of view, all you do is reinforce the behavior characterized by people not listening to you; they&#8217;re just simply waiting for their turn to talk.</p>
<p>The key to gaining their attention quickly and engaging them is to construct your presentation around their view of the world, as opposed to yours.</p>
<p>Remember, if everyone saw the world the same way and shared the same opinions, there would be no need to influence and persuade because everyone would naturally be in compliance with one another.<br />
The method by which you construct your presentation around their view of the world is by determining their representational systems.</p>
<p>Representational systems, are nothing more than the way we think, talk, understand and represent the world.</p>
<p>In neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), there are three recognized representational systems which include visual, auditory, and kinesthetic.</p>
<p>Visual people relate to the world generally by the way they see things.  When they speak, they will use terms like, “I see, what you&#8217;re saying” or “I can see why you would think that way.”</p>
<p>Visual people like to see the world in terms of pictures.  Therefore, creating a visual story or painting a picture for someone with this representational system will be more effective than anything else you might attempt. They also like to observe others and may be fascinated with photography or things that generally involve visualization. These people also tend to enjoy reading and watching movies.</p>
<p>What&#8217;s interesting is that they usually remember names as a result of a visual cue that they received.  An example would be how something about a person&#8217;s face that they just met would remind them of the person&#8217;s name.</p>
<p>Visual people are also very concerned with their appearance, and they work better when following directions that are clearly written down.  When trying to influence a visual thinker, your best bet is to provide them with written documentation in the form of directions, proof or a general explanation of what you&#8217;re speaking about.</p>
<p>Next on the list are auditory people.  Auditory people assimilate information by tuning in or listening to hear what it is that they are being told.  They also enjoy talking with others and conversation is something that they find very interesting.</p>
<p>For auditory people their world is represented by sound. Therefore, to get their attention and engage them, you must say something that sounds very appealing to them.</p>
<p>Just as visual people like to look at directions, auditory people would rather hear directions right out loud by someone else. Retaining the information they&#8217;re looking at can be difficult for them, whereas hearing it is much easier for auditory people.</p>
<p>Auditory people like to use phrases like, “that sounds good, that is clear as a bell, and listen to me.”<br />
Simply put, auditory people understand spoken language more than anything else.  Therefore, when making a presentation, focus more on the way that you&#8217;re saying things as opposed to writing things down or trying to create a vision for them.</p>
<p>The third type of representational system is called kinesthetic.  People who fall into this category make decisions and behave based upon the way something feels to them.  You could call them touchy-feely people.  They relate to both touch and motion.</p>
<p>Kinesthetic people assimilate information with their feelings and sense of touch.  And because of this, they are very skilled in certain areas.  As an example, they are typically known to acquire a physical skill faster than the average person.</p>
<p>Common phrases that you may hear a kinesthetic person say are things like, “callous” or “all washed up.”  They may also use phrases like, “I feel you” or “that feels right.”</p>
<p>They also like to give analogies that relate to the way you would feel if certain events took place.  Instead of saying, “I was really mad,” they would say something like “my blood was boiling.”</p>
<p>The key to any persuasion attempt is to build rapport.  Rapport is basically the connection that you create with someone, which lowers their guard and makes them more receptive to your presentation.<br />
One of the most effective ways to build rapport is by determining which representational system a person has.</p>
<p>If you find that they use phrases like seeing your point or looking ahead to the future, chances are this person is a visual thinker and you should communicate with them in a way that is conducive to their representational system.</p>
<p>Aside from understanding your message more clearly, they will also feel naturally connected to you as people generally feel bonded or connected to those that remind them of themselves or those with whom they have things in common with.</p>
<p>The next time you begin a conversation with someone, pay attention to the way they communicate.  You&#8217;ll begin to notice that people generally fall into one of these three categories and you will be better equipped to communicate with them.</p>

Most of the time, we are oblivious to the messages we send through our body gestures and movements. We could give negative signals that might offend other people without intending to do so. There are gestures that we indeed have to avoid, but it may need discipline and practice because we may have been used to performing this negative acts in our daily lives. </p>
<p>It is important for one to be observant of his body language, and those of other people as well. You can read other people by learning how to understand how they act and move. But you must also be aware there are people who know how to interpret body language, and somebody may already be reading you now. Thus, be cautious of actions by knowing when to use them and what to avoid. </p>
<p><strong>At Work</strong></p>
<p>It is always relevant to be in your best self at work. By doing so, you can impress your boss and please clients. Simply be confident when facing somebody. If you are relaxed, other people would not regard you as overconfident. Show them you know what you are talking about by keeping good posture, eye contact and using suitable hand gestures. </p>
<p><strong>During A Date</strong></p>
<p>How can you give signs that you are indeed attracted to another person without telling them verbally how you really feel? The solution is simple. Talk with your eyes and match it with a bright smile. These two are enough to let somebody know you are indeed enjoying his or her company.</p>
<p>You would know the date is going well when signals of flirtation are present. A woman would tend to touch her hair, lick her lips, eat or drink slowly, and preen. Meanwhile, a man would usually wink, close the distance between them, lean forward, and stand tall. Bottom line is both sexes want to impress their partner by showing the self-confidence or sexiness through actions. And these signs are indeed just the beginning of a higher level in the relationship.</p>
<p><strong>Acts You Must Practice To Avoid</strong></p>
<p>There are many kinds of gestures that you must practice to avoid. At work, try to hide your anxiety or tension by avoiding fidgeting, trembling, or shaking. Avoid excessive hand movements when talking, since this could distract others from focusing on your statements. Avoid also excessive blinking; this shows you are uneasy and nervous. Stop looking at your watch or the clock. This is rude since you are giving an impression that you want to end the interaction right away.  Do not stroke you chin, lean on an elbow, and fake a smile. </p>
<p>When on a date, it would be much more polite if you directly say “no” rather than showing signals of rudeness to the person if you are uninterested or getting bored. Do not sigh, look at other people other than your partner, slouch, and prop your head on your hands.</p>
<p><strong>Observe Cultural Differences</strong></p>
<p>The proper use of body language also depends on where you are and who you are interacting with. You may be talking to somebody with a conservative culture and regards some gestures rude and disrespectful, even if they are normally used in your place. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p></p><p><img src="http://my-personal-growth.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/beach_w-300x225.jpg" alt="beach_w" title="beach_w" width="300" height="225" class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-1283" />If you find your life in disarray, you are living what society calls a “dysfunctional” life.  This term simply means that things are not working as they should, which is something determined by you and your conscious mind.  However, dysfunctions are not always viewed by the subconscious mind.  For instance, if you were doing things you do not want to do such as smoking, overeating, being abusive, and so on, you would probably agree those are dysfunctional.</p>
<p>With self-hypnosis, you can remove the dysfunction from your life, so you can stop smoking, overeating, being abusive, etc.  Self-hypnosis can help you become more patient while improving yourself and your actions.  The key is to believe that self-hypnosis can benefit your life but first, you have to identify the dysfunction in your life so it can be addressed.  Although sometimes hard for people to do, self-hypnosis can work if you get to the real source of the problem.</p>
<p>With this, you would learn how to find both symptoms and the problem.  For instance, if you are a smoker, the problem is not the cigarettes but your need to smoke them.  Remember, you cannot confuse action with cause.  In other words, the need to smoke results in buying cigarettes, carrying them around, putting them in your mouth, lighting one, and inhaling.  If you deal with one or all of these symptoms, regardless of how successful the self-hypnosis suggestions are, you will not get past the dysfunction.  This means the craving to smoke will remain because the underlying source of the problem of why you are craving the cigarette is not yet addressed.</p>
<p>Now, let us say that you have a problem with overeating.  Your need to eat and overeat is the source of the weight problem but the goal with self-hypnosis, you identify the reason you have the need and then change it.  Once you do that, the overeating problem will stop.  It could be the underlying problem has to do with stress of a job, recent divorce, sibling rivalry, being picked on at school, or any number of reasons.  However, the dysfunction of the situation is what must be determined before self-hypnosis can work.</p>
<p>No matter the goal, the same ideology applies.  Anything you want to overcome, biting your nails, swearing, being shy, etc, they all need overt behavior on your end.  Keep in mind that passive dysfunction involves the absence of something, meaning you have some type of mental block.  If you are struggling with passive dysfunction, then subconscious constructs are in the way of learning.  Your goal with self-hypnosis is again, to uncover the existence of each dysfunction.  Once you know what these dysfunctions are, you can then formulate suggestions that will work to remove them.</p>
<p>One way to determine the existence of any dysfunction is through ideomotor questioning.  With this, you will be able to draw up effective suggestions so the subconscious mind signs off the suggestions.  The process involves who, where, when, what, and why.  As far as who, you would ask questions to find out if there are other people associated with the problem.  For the where, is would be associated with location that could be the source of the problem.  In other words, were you in a location that triggers your nervousness, nail-biting, smoking, overeating, and so on?</p>
<p>For the when, you want to identify the time of your life when the problem first started.  If possible, determine the exact age or date, which will provide you with tremendous insight.  Then you have the what.  For this, you need to find out what specifically sets off the dysfunctional behavior.  For instance, were you taunted by someone as a small child, did your parents yell at you, were you embarrassed at some point.  All of these questions will help you find the crux of the problem.  Finally, there is the why, which may help you understand why the behavior in the first place.</p>
<p>Once you have gone through this exercise looking for the keys to the dysfunctional behavior, you can use self-hypnosis to get past it.  Again, with hypnotic suggestions being made the right way, you can begin to take control of the dysfunctional areas of your life, finding that you feel better and stronger about yourself.  Hypnosis in any form is not an overnight fix but with practice and patience, you can overcome many dysfunctional aspects of your life for a brand new beginning.</p>

But that self-examination is healthy because you are taking a fresh look at who you are, who you want to be and why you are not where you are in life.  Then you take that honest assessment and decide how to get there and go after it with renewed energy and resolve.  The success you achieve is as much attributable to your new resolve as it is to your natural skills and ability to perform the work you are doing to see success in your life.</p>
<p>Do you remember when you was a child and you had a million dreams?  Anyone who has been around a child or young teen will hear him or her confidently express their goal to be a princess, president of the United States, king of the world or the universe and just about any other ambition and goal you can imagine.  That trait of childhood is one we should never lose.  That is because, even though we learn through life that we do have limits and the price to be paid for success, if we keep our standards high, we will reach higher and see greater victories than if we set out standards low.</p>
<p>There is a simple fact about how our minds work or our &#8220;psychology&#8221; that Anthony Robbins understands and it is this fact that he wants us to take control over.  That truism is that we will live up to our own standards.  If we set our standards high, we will strive to reach those goals.  But what happens in life unfortunately is as disappointments and problems cause us to go through occasional failures, we tend to adjust our standards lower and lower to avoid feeling hurt.  </p>
<p>To start the path to true success however, we have to go back to that child that lives inside you and imagine yourself performing great things.  It is easy enough to just say, &#8220;I need to set high standards for myself to reach&#8221;.  But to make that a reality takes a little visualization, some self-talk and the ability to see a path between where you are and realizing your dreams.  That all starts with going back and recapturing that dream.</p>
<p>In each of us is a dream that we never wanted to let go of in the first place.  That is the dream that calls us to be all we can be.  It is also the dream that makes the most of your talents, your abilities and the things in life that you love to do the most.  By going back and reclaiming your God-given right to hold on to that dream, that is the first step of setting a standard for yourself that means you won’t settle for less.  From there you come to truly believe that not only can that dream be realized but it is you who can realize it.  And because you can realize it, it is your destiny to do so.  </p>
<p>From there, it is only a short distance to setting a goal in life to archive that dream no matter what.  And the primary person you will hold accountable for that goal is you.  By holding yourself to a high standard, nothing short of success will be good enough.  And once that is your standard in life, nothing can stand in your way.</p>

In truth, people who are hypnotized are very much aware of what is being done and said, hearing each word spoken.  In fact, unless the person was to go into an extremely deep state of hypnosis, he or she would not feel any different from right now.  If you have been thinking about hypnosis but have concerns that you will drift off somewhere and never return or fall into a trance whereby you are unaware of activity, then you have nothing to worry about because hypnosis is nothing like that at all.</p>
<p>When being hypnotized by a hypnotherapist or hypnotist, or if being hypnotized by self-hypnosis, you are lying down or reclining in your favorite, overstuffed chair.  Most experts would tell you that you feel as if you have just settled in and now, you are watching a movie or reading a great book.  The only real sense of “feeling” that you might have is an overall calm, mellow, or weightlessness.  Again, if you do slip into a deeper state that you might feel as if you had a few drinks but without the fuzziness, headache, or other side effects.  With hypnosis, there is an almost euphoric sense or peace and tranquility.</p>
<p>The interestingly thing is that you could be in a very light state, actually communicating with the hypnotist or hypnotherapist and not even realize you are hypnotized.  Because of this, when you work with a professional, that person needs to be specially trained to understand preinduction discussion, with after hypnosis discussion.  In other words, you want a professional that will not just ramble on about nonsensical things but be using the conversation during this “light” time as preinduction, setting the state of hypnosis so to speak.  That way, you are gradually brought to the level where you need to be for your goal to e achieved.</p>
<p>The thing to remember with hypnosis is that when in a hypnotic state, certain abilities are improved.  For example, your ability to recall memories, be creative, responsiveness, and imagery are all expanded.  If you were in a very, light hypnotic state that does not mean you would not respond to suggestions being made by the hypnotist or hypnotherapist.  However, experts believe that when the subconscious mind is taken into a deeper state, these abilities are strengthened even further, which means the hypnosis can be a greater success.  For some people, this ability makes hypnosis appealing while for others, it raises questions of concern.  However, you can be assured that when done by a professional, hypnosis is worthwhile, not scary, and not dangerous.</p>
