Filed Under (Personal Growth, Self Confidence, success) by Kevin on 29-08-2008

Confidence is a very broad and general term. We would all enjoy being confident, and having more confidence throughout our lives in general, but when we make this choice in our lives, it is important to define the means of confidence that we want in life. Without implementing the use of a defined goal, it is very likely that our full potential when it comes to determining your level of confidence. We all have the dream of confidence, but the only way that it will become a reality is for us to make goals and do what it takes to achieve those goals. Here, we will evaluate how you can go about determining your level of confidence.

In order to go about the process of determining your level of confidence, it is first important to ask yourself a few questions. These questions will help you determine what “confidence” means to you. Does it mean holding a certain position at work? Does it mean accomplishing a certain financial goal? Does it mean remaining positive at all times? You really have to know what confidence means to you before you can determine your level of confidence and how to achieve confidence. Let’s move on to the questions:

1. Are you the type of person that requires a lot of direction when it comes to making important decisions in your life?
2. Is it important to you to have a “support system” in place that consists of several individuals in order to make you feel more secure?
3. Are you active in meetings, or do you simply sit and listen?
4. Do you have a fear of public speaking?
5. Do you get nervous and/or anxious when it comes to meeting new people?
6. Do you have a difficult time saying “no” to your superiors, or people in general?
7. Do you suffer from approval addiction?
8. Are risks just too “risky” to even consider?
9. Are you comfortable with your appearance?
10. Do you enjoy being in the midst of many different people?

Answering these questions will actually put in perspective what level of confidence that you have. It should assist you in determining your strengths, as well as your weaknesses. It is essential that you understand what points in your personality and thoughts that you must change in order to set the appropriate goals that will allow you to increase your confidence levels.

Confidence Essentials

When it comes to increasing confidence, there are a few things that I consider to be “essentials” when it comes to your overall success. Listed below are some of these essentials:

1. First, you must sway your thinking from a negative viewpoint to a positive viewpoint. One of the most effective strategies that I feel is productive in this area is to believe that you are on a mission. No one was placed here by accident. Each and every single individual on Earth has a purpose or a “mission in life. All those “negative” things that happen and frustrate us…those are lessons! That’s right! The mistakes, the failures, the “bad luck” all of these things are put in place to assist you in the way of learning to be your very best as you journey through life!
2. You must love people! This is a simple fact – if you love people, people will love you! Take an active interest in people, find out who they are, find out what excites them in life, take some of their passion and apply it to your life! If you are able to do this, you will have an extremely high level of confidence!
3. In order to be confident, you have to love yourself! This is not conceit; this is love in the way of value!

If you do the things listed here, you will be able to easily determine your level of confidence!

Is It Possible To Maintain A Nutritious Diet While On Vacation?

Filed Under (Good Health, Motivation, Personal Growth, Self Confidence, Wellness) by Kevin on 20-08-2008

Sticking to a nutritious diet while vacationing can be one of the most difficult things to do. After all, a vacation is for having fun and that includes eating good food! However, if you learn how to make smart choices, a nourishing diet is really not that difficult when you’re away from home. This is probably not the best time in which to start a healthy diet, but if you are currently making healthy choices in your foods already, modifying your diet slightly to accommodate traveling is not as hard as it may seem.

If you are vacationing on an airplane, a wholesome diet may have to include airplane food, which may be a challenge, depending on the selection. When you book your flight, ask about your food options and ask if a vegetarian dish is available. Vegetarian dishes are sometimes more nutritional in this case, but it really depends on what they will be serving. If you can, eat a larger meal before your flight so that you don’t have to eat the entire meal that is served to feel full.

When driving or taking a bus or metro, you may be tempted to stop at fast food restaurants and eat the foods found there. Avoid this whenever possible. If you’re on vacation, you may want to splurge a little bit, but having fast food more than once during a week can really be bad for your health. If you must, choose the healthiest options available, like chicken breasts and herbal tea.

Also remember that you can take your own meals when vacationing. Carrying a loaf of whole wheat bread or pita wraps, some lean turkey, and low fat cheese in a cooler is a great way to avoid high fat and high cholesterol junk food meals. These are much better choices and you’ll save a lot of money as well. Call ahead to be sure there will be a refrigerator in your hotel room.

Lastly, make smart choices when you eat out. If you choose salads or pasta, get the dressing on the side and ask about low-carb options. In fact, many places print these dieting options directly in the menu for the health conscious people. To control your portions order lunch menu sizes or split the meal in half and get a take-out bag, and you’ll be well on your way to nutritious eating, even away from home.

Yes, eating healthy foods when on vacation can be a challenge. However, your health is worth it. When you eat wholesome foods, you will also fight illnesses that you are likely to encounter when vacationing and be more attentive so that you can enjoy your trip. So eat well, relax and have a great time!

The Importance Of Character

Filed Under (Beliefs, Goals, Motivation, Personal Growth, Positive Thinking, Self Confidence) by Kevin on 06-08-2008

If you look around you and the world that you are part of, you will quickly discover that many individuals engage in activities and display behaviors that are quite questionable. Many of these individuals display these behaviors and engage in activities that are considered to be questionable in order to accumulate riches and succeed in life. While it is true that many of these individuals achieve the success that they are after, they lack the integrity and honor of having character. If you are looking to achieve success in your life, and you want to do it in a morally upright manner, you must start by evaluating your character. Here, you will learn the importance of character.

If you attempt to succeed in a morally unjust manner, you may acquire a generous amount of wealth, but you are likely to remain unhappy, and experience an inner feeling of emptiness. This is because of the fact that you did what you did with a lack of character and regard for the character of others. When you display a morally upright character, you also display integrity. That is basically what character is – having a high sense of integrity. Integrity, ultimately, means “quality” when it relates to the character of an individual. Integrity goes so much deeper than just a standard “quality” in character.

Individuals who study philosophy have come to the conclusion that there are essential fundamentals when it comes to this term as it relates to human life. First, integrity is the standard that a person has towards themselves that is highly ethical, professional, and “formal”. The second fundamental is when an individual displays behaviors, and takes actions that are considered to be morally upright when faced with decisions, jobs, and social interactions in life. Integrity can be considered a moral, and it can also be considered a virtue when it comes to character.

There is one particular rule that has been passed down from one generation to another all throughout history that truly defines what is expected when it comes to proper character. That is the ever-popular “Golden Rule”. This rule, which originated in The Holy Bible in Luke 6:31 states: “Do to others as you would have them do to you”. While there are a number of translations and expression of this particular rule, the meaning is simple. If we keep this rule in mind as we progress through life, not only will we exhibit a morally upright character, but we are quite likely to experience the success that we have set out to achieve.

There are certain characteristics that make a person successful. First the individual that is destined for success will have a strong belief in themselves, as well as that which they want to accomplish. This type of individual will also have a determination to do what it takes, and to do it in a virtuous manner. Work is not an issue for these individuals, and neither is failure. Failure is nothing more than a way of letting that person know that they must attempt to do whatever it is that they are trying to do in a more creative way. Failures are true learning experiences that the individual with character and integrity actually look forward to, and the lessons experienced. If you can have this character, you will go far in life.

Effective Strategies For Developing Your Will Power For Success In Life

Filed Under (Motivation, Personal Growth, Positive Thinking, Self Confidence) by Kevin on 03-08-2008

There are a number of effective strategies for developing your will power for success in life. Many fail to realize it, but in order to achieve the success that you want to in life; a couple of things must be in place. The first thing, of course, is the motivation to carry you through on your journey to success. The second element is the ability to develop and sustain will power. Here, I will expound on the very important element of developing a will power that will allow you the strength, and courage to press hard – even in the most challenging of all situations – until you have accomplished your goals in life. Do you want to be successful? You must first have a strong will.

At a very young age, each of us are taught that, in order to be successful, we must do well in our educational careers. The concept and ideal that education and success go hand in hand is a nice one, there is no underestimating that. The fact is, however, that success has been achieved by a large number of individuals who had little to no education. There are a number of reasons why they were uneducated – maybe they had to stay home to help their family bring in money, or maybe they were educated at home by parents that had little to no education – there are many reasons for this. However, the rationalization that education is a core essential for success is an incorrect rationalization. It is will power that drives a man to success. Education may make it easier – that’s a given – the individual with “will” ALWAYS finds a “way”!

If you want to succeed in life, you must have will power. I mean, that is the fact – plain and simple. Now that you know this, it is time to take action. So, where to start? Let’s start with your goals. What is it that you want to achieve in life? Where do you want to see yourself in one year? Why is it that you want to achieve what you do? Many people make the choice to set goals based on what they think their family, their friends, and their coworkers want them to do. They want to look “good”. Let me tell you right now, you will never “look good” by following the lead of another when it comes to YOUR life – that’s right, YOUR LIFE – not theirs. What you have to do is politely excuse that person that is trying to lead you and take front and center.

Once you take front and center, you are taking the first step towards properly developing your will power. Now, as you stand front and center, you know what is behind you. You just came from the back, right? So, leave everything behind you – including negative thoughts, negative self talk, and, well, just anything negative. We are not looking back here, we have to move forward if we want to achieve success. If you have to, turn around and wave goodbye to everything behind you – past perceptions, a low self image, a decrease in confidence, and whatever stands behind you – so that you can press on. Will power means taking what you know to be truth, creating an action plan to turn it into something productive and getting your feet moving!

Now, that you are all excited and ready to go – it is time to move out!!! Will power may try to test you on the journey down the road to success, but do not give in. If you trip over a limb and fall, pick yourself up, think about the positive learning experience and move on. You will likely stumble – if you can’t catch yourself, pride yourself in falling gracefully, then pick up and move out. You may come face to face with some troubling mountains and hills – that’s ok. All you do is push those obstructions out of your way! Stop at absolutely nothing in order to achieve your goals. When you are able to do this, it is then that you have truly achieved success!

The Right Kind Of Pride Is A Virtue

Filed Under (Motivation, Personal Growth, Self Confidence, Self Esteem) by Kevin on 28-07-2008

Is there something you are particularly proud of in your life? Pride in what you have achieved and in who you are is a good thing when it is based on something genuine. It is a positive thing to be able to have qualities of character you can speak well of to others and to believe about yourself. In fact, it is admirable. Don’t be afraid to be proud of who you are. Pride reflects a passion for who you are and for life in general. With the right kind of pride in our lives we can live fully and passionately.

Pride is really the result of being aware of our own personal power. Pride is actually a by-product of our success and in turn strengthens us so that we become even more successful.

Pride can give you the courage to fight for what you want and to refuse to be walked all over. The right kind of pride in who you are and what you represent will help you achieve mastery in your life whereas those who always defer to others live lives of quiet desperation. Pride can give you the gift of personal freedom. It can help you feel more powerful than any difficulty you may confront. It will give you confidence that you can achieve whatever you set out to achieve in life. Nothing will be impossible to you. When you have a sense of personal pride you will not allow yourself to be controlled or limited by other people because you are the master of your own destiny.

Lions roam in prides. The power of their roar and their very attitude reveals their pride in being the “king of beasts.” Not only do they win the game, they eat it. They are the conquerors, not the conquered. Conquerors are the survivors throughout our history and they shape the evolution of mankind. You too, can become a conqueror. Remember, nature rewards the strong and the proud.

In a study of men across a large area of Asia, it was found that eight percent of them were descended from Genghis Khan. Do you realize that your ancestors also live on in you? In fact, you are the result of their pride.

Pride is a natural consequence of honor. We honor people for their great accomplishments and qualities. So, we should also honor ourselves and let others honor us. When we honor others we help them to grow in personal pride. Pride is not a bad thing. It is not arrogant and selfish. It actually means you have a purpose and personal integrity.

Don’t be afraid to feel proud. After all, you have earned the right. You can feel proud that you are alive because nature favors the strong. You can feel proud because you an extraordinary creation called a human being and you are unique. Feel pride in your choices and the direction you are heading, for the destiny that is yours. The right kind of pride will help you become the person you want to be and guide you to a series of successes. True pride is a reflection of greatness.

Have you ever heard someone criticized with words like “he has no personal pride?” It is not a compliment. When you have pride you are living up to certain values and setting a good example in the world. By taking pride in your work, you can build a reputation for excellence that will take you far.

Pride is a cousin to willpower and determination. These qualities create a strong human being, whether male or female. Such a person may at times be demanding but they are also in demand. True pride can motivate us to do our best work and is a quality possessed by those of high character. Individuals who seek to achieve great things for both themselves and others are also proud human beings.

More than anything your personal pride reflects your belief in yourself. You are alive and you have a purpose for being alive. It feels good to live with pride, to have high self esteem and to respect yourself. You deserve to have pride because you are a valuable and worthwhile human being. Living with pride will give you a sense of satisfaction with life and empower you to achieve success.

It may sound simplistic, but it is a lot better to feel happy with yourself than otherwise. Self criticism can wear you down and keep you from being successful but pride in who you are can lift you up and help you do well in life. Let’s face it, no matter where you go you have one constant companion – you. If you have pride in yourself you won’t feel the need to hide from who you are. You will be comfortable in your own skin and happy to spend time with yourself.

Personal pride provides a sense of self confidence that magnetizes you for success. You will attract the things you desire into your life. Let’s face it, you are so wonderful, marvelous and absolutely fantastic that you deserve the good things of life.
