			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p></p><p>We all experience days when our self-esteem is low and we feel inclined to indulge in some self-pity but instead of doing that there are ways to boost your self-esteem.  Our self-esteem can also take a knock when we have made a faux pas at a rather inopportune moment and we know that we could have done better had we applied ourselves a little more.  We all have had those days when we seem to be the only one walking around with a rain cloud perpetually over us while sunshine seems to shine for everyone else.  But there are a few tricks that can be implemented that help to boost self-esteem so that you can walk taller and dispel that cloud once and for all.</p>
<p>Exercise is good for more than just maintaining good health.  Whether you opt for jogging or yoga, or some other form of exercise you will find that your self-esteem will benefit.  When you feel that you&#8217;re sinking into despondency try setting aside a quarter of an hour or so in order to do some exercising. <p>“They used to say I was born with a fork in my mouth. I was always told to eat everything on my plate. Growing up in an Italian family, while our meals primarily consisted of pasta and bread; I wouldn’t consider myself to be someone who ate constantly. The overriding factor contributing to my weight was sweets.  In addition, I inherited my father’s genes; which unfortunately consisted of a large frame, and a tendency to gain weight more easily.  Conversely, my mother’s side of the family was thin. To add insult to injury, my sister was fortunate enough to inherit my mom’s genes.” </p>
<p>My early childhood years were painful, to say the least. Attending elementary school posed many problems. Since uniforms were mandatory, I was unable to find a store that would accommodate my size.  I was laughed at; made fun of; and as a result, became extremely shy and introverted.  I would always sit in the last row in class; did not have many friends; and realized soon enough I was not like everyone else.  While my parents were always telling me how beautiful I was, I didn’t believe it.  Eventually, I withdrew; going through the motions of living a normal life; but not. As teenager, it was even more difficult to form friendships.  To compensate, I read books; listened to music and thought that if I were intelligent enough, I would be included.  It didn’t happen.  If I attended a high school function, I usually went alone, but was never asked to dance.  I became used to being ignored. I developed a low self-esteem which took over my life for the next thirty years.”</p>

<p>To improve your self-esteem, it is necessary to find the underlying cause.  Professional help may be warranted.  Speaking to someone who can be totally objective can have a profound affect on the path you will eventually take to free yourself from this internal bondage. It takes courage and determination to face your own fears and to seek help. You can be assured; however, once you do there will be no need to ever look back. </p>
<p>It’s time to get out of your own way, and find the truth within. Self-esteem issues can be resolved.  All it takes is one step toward the direction of the light; leave the darkness forever behind you. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p></p><p>When you consider that low self-esteem is usually the result of negative messages being absorbed by the subconscious, it makes sense that feeding your mind more positive messages can make a powerful difference!</p>
<p>What stops most people is the uncertainty of what to say, and how to word affirmations for optimal effectiveness.  Below you’ll find some simple tips to help you write effective affirmations for improving your self-esteem.</p>
<p><strong>1)	Present tense. </strong> First, it’s helpful to word affirmations in present tense, not future.  You wouldn’t want to say, “I will learn to love myself” because that makes it sound like you’ll get around to it “someday.”  Instead you could say, “I choose to love myself.”  The wording of that affirmation does two things:  it empowers you with the addition of the words “choose to,” and it puts the timeframe in the present moment.</p>
<p><strong>2)	Believable.</strong>  At the same time, your affirmations should be believable to you.  If you tried to say, “I am a wonderful person with a lot to offer the world,” you may not really believe that, so your subconscious mind might reject it.  Instead, try to focus on a process rather than an end result in your affirmations.  Say something like, “I am learning to embrace my uniqueness and share it confidently with others.”</p>
<p><strong>3)	Use the right tone.</strong>  When you recite affirmations, you can do so aloud or just mentally, but you should focus heavily on the TONE you use.  Rather than saying the words without emotion like you were reading a newspaper – really inject an element of love and tenderness into them.  Your subconscious mind picks up on the emotional aspect of what you’re saying more than the actual words.  Imagine the difference between saying the words, “I really love myself” with a tone of love and compassion, or sarcasm.  Which do you think would have a greater impact on your subconscious mind?</p>
<p><strong>4)	Repetition. </strong> Once you’ve got some affirmations formed to work on your self-esteem, try saying them several times a day.  Remember, your subconscious mind is constantly playing back old, negative messages – so you want to counteract those as much as possible.  Keep reciting your more positive thoughts on a regular basis &#8211; especially when you become aware that you’re thinking negatively about yourself.</p>
<p><strong>5)	Give it time.</strong>  Finally, remember that it will take time to change those old, negative messages in your mind to something more positive.  It may take a few weeks or even months before you’ll notice an obvious difference in how you feel, and you may be tempted to think it isn’t working.  Keep with it, and you will begin to see a difference eventually!  Most likely it will be a gradual change.  Little by little you’ll start feeling more positive, and notice that you’re feeling a bit happier and lighter.  That’s your signal that it’s working!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p></p><p>Is building self-esteem for teens different from that of a child? The answer is yes because you are grown up already and you now have the responsibility of choosing between right and wrong. You can make decisions without consulting your parents every time and as long as you have positive self-esteem, you will be able to make the right decisions.</p>
<p>One of the challenges of being a teen is that your friends will put much pressure on you. If you decide to go against them, it could hurt your friendship with them which is why they sometimes do things that they don’t normally to make sure they belong with the “in crowd.”</p>
<p>If you give in to pressure, you have low self-esteem. What is worse is that you could hurt yourself or someone else especially if you decide to start drinking below the required age, engage in sex practices when you are not ready, get addicted to drugs, join a gang or even quit school.</p>
<p>When you ask an adult or and a teen what is the definition of self-esteem, both will say something different. For parents, this is the way we look at ourselves but to the teen, it is how they want people to look at who they are.</p>
<p>As you can see, the two answers don’t match and because this is the age gap. Adults have already been through a lot in life and their experience has shown them the path. On the other hand, teens are still in that period of discovery and they will most likely commit many mistakes before becoming more mature in their lives.</p>
<p>Given that both see it differently, it does not yet excuse the parents to try to steer their sons or daughters in the correct path. The best way to do that is to be open to their teens and be around when they are needed especially when they are confused.</p>
<p>For instance, if the teen wants to try a new sport, the parents should wish their kids well and hope that this will work out. If it doesn’t, they should be ready to comfort them and give them credit for trying.</p>
<p>If the teen gets into trouble, the parents will have to correct the improper behavior. While most parents scold their kids the instant something happens, they should remember that it is more effective to them like adults because they are no longer babies. By explaining to them what they did and making them understand the repercussions of their actions, they will not make the same mistake again.</p>
<p>But is it just the parents who build the self-esteem of the teens? The answer is no because teachers should do their share when these individuals come to school. Of course there are rules the student must abide by but by inspiring the teens to excel in their studies, the teacher can be sure that they will succeed in college and later in life.</p>
<p>After all the support from the parents, the teachers and the friends, the teen will soon realize that they will be the ones that will have to develop their self-esteem. The people around merely helped the individual realize who he or she is and if they want to succeed, they have to figure out what they have to do on their own.</p>
